Laser cutting head: the evolution up to Evo 2
We listen to our customers. And our cutting heads evolve accordingly.
Our cutting head for medium- and high-power lasers has grown version after version, up to the Evo 2 model, available up to 20 kW.
Born from customer needs
We always pay close attention to our customers' needs: their requirements are the spark to improve and evolve our products. This is true for our cutting heads as well.
Our Service department closely follows customer input and can create custom solutions, with continuous support.
The first version of our head, today installed on our laser cutting systems LME, has always set us apart for excellent quality when cutting various metals, also thanks to our custom-designed nozzles.
We have installed more than 300, with various collimator and focal customizations, according to laser power and customer needs.
The limit to overcome was beam power: this first head could not handle beams above 6 kW.
The evolution: from Evo 1 to Evo 2
Study and development led to the new Evo 1 cutting head, presented at Lamiera 2017 with an 8 kW laser source. Evo 1 was designed with optics suited to the high powers required by our laser systems.
The project moved on to the Evo 2 model, available up to 20 kW. Fully sensorized, it greatly improved the cutting of very high thicknesses: carbon steel up to 40 mm and stainless steel up to 35 mm, with laser power from 8 to 20 kW.
8 kW: 20 mm of stainless steel with just 14 bar of nitrogen.
Low gas consumption at high pressure
Thanks to the fluid-dynamics study by our R&D, Evo 2 consumes very little gas when working at high pressure: with an 8 kW laser you can cut 20 mm of stainless steel with just 14 bar of nitrogen.
Evo 2 is also an evolution in weight, size and performance, and customer feedback has been very positive.
Beyond: 5 axes and a Service that makes the difference
We didn't stop there: we also test the head on 5-axis machines at high powers, above 12 kW.
One of our strengths remains the Service: by producing and testing all the parts of our heads in-house, it is always ready to meet any need and handle any situation.
