LaserJet: how Cutlite Penta fiber laser cutting transformed production

Technological evolution has brought major changes to the metal cutting industry, in particular with fiber laser systems. In this interview we talk with LaserJet, a company that has established itself in the sector thanks in part to Cutlite Penta laser systems. They tell us how Cutlite machine technology transformed their business and what the future holds.

How did LaserJet start, and how did you begin working with lasers?

At first we were a family tied to agriculture, then we opened a company specialized in contract cutting, bending and welding. We focused on producing gym machines and later discovered the potential of laser cutting. We were among the first to use it for industrial cutting and over the years the company grew into three entities: LaserJet, which produces grass-mowing machines; a metalwork company; and a group handling various industrial activities.

What services do you offer and in which sectors?

We offer contract services in various sectors, including agriculture, winemaking and metal structure production. Customers ask us for cutting, bending and welding of products such as telescopic arms for vans and turrets. We are always looking for advanced solutions and technologies, just like the laser we use for cutting.

How did you discover Cutlite Penta and why did you decide to invest in its machines?

For over five years we had been looking for a laser system to replace our old model. We had evaluated several options, but found nothing convincing: the old machine no longer met our needs. Then we met Cutlite Penta, which showed us the cutting capabilities of one of its machines, and we were impressed. We decided to buy it because it met our needs for cutting different materials such as iron, steel and aluminum: among the options we evaluated, it was the right one for us.

How did you get on with the Cutlite Penta laser machine?

There were some challenges during installation, but now that it is up and running we are satisfied with its performance. Laser technology has changed the cutting sector, allowing more precise, high-quality machining: we can cut tough materials with ease. We continuously update our skills to stay competitive in an evolving market, where the use of light, strong materials is increasingly common and requires adapting the machines.

Have you tried new cutting methods or technologies with Cutlite Penta?

We tested mixed cutting and found the right setup for us, improving the gas mixture. For example, a nitrogen and oxygen mixture (98% and 2%) worked very well. Mixture stability is essential: even a small variation can create dross or a poor finish, so keeping a stable composition during cutting is crucial.

We had also considered a solution from abroad, but ran into problems with certificates and regulations; in the end we found the solution in Italy, installing an iron-cutting system with the right gas mixture. With Cutlite Penta we expanded our scope of work, from thin to high thicknesses. We aim to diversify and keep improving, transferring new know-how to the other machines too.

What changes have you seen over the years, and what challenges have you faced?

We have seen major changes. The introduction of lasers changed the way we work sheet metal: cutting precision was a real leap in quality compared to ten years ago, and often additional mechanical machining is no longer needed. We started working with high-strength materials to reduce the weight of structures: light but strong, they require specific skills, for example to bend them without cracks you need the right pressure and tooling.

Welding is essential in our work, also because many of our products are used by people working several meters up for many hours: strong, quality welds are a must. To stay competitive we must keep updating: flexibility, speed and precision are key.

What are your future goals in the cutting sector?

We want to keep growing, improving what we have and seeking new opportunities to expand. We are ready to adapt to new technologies and customer needs, offering ever more precise, high-quality machining. Cutlite Penta was a turning point for our company in laser cutting: advanced technology and high-level performance let us improve product quality and stay competitive. We are excited to keep growing and adopting new solutions for our customers.
