Laser cutting of large objects

Some customers asked us to cut large objects. Very large ones.

In this article we tell you about that need and how we solved it with a new system: Linear Cube. An important addition to our range, for high-precision 3D cutting of sheet metal, even on large objects and materials.

How Linear Cube is built

Linear Cube features linear motors and a pressurized working arm moving on 5 axes, to quickly reach even the trickiest corners of the workpiece.

It allows 2D cuts up to 20 mm thick, with dimensions up to 2,500 x 8,100 mm, and 3D cuts up to 15 mm, with dimensions up to 2,000 x 7,100 x 980 mm.

Despite its giant-scale performance, it keeps a simultaneous X and Y travel speed of 140 m/min, acceleration of 1 G, working precision of ± 0.05/500 mm and positioning repeatability of ± 0.02 mm. All processes are managed by Alpha Learning, the control and self-learning software with simple, intuitive programming.

Which sectors it is used in

Which sectors is Linear Cube used in? In all those that work with metals and large, very large objects: for example tubes up to 8 meters long and 2 meters in diameter. Quite a challenge.

Thanks to this machine, many of our customers have been able to carry out very specific operations: bevels for the welding process, even on stainless steel sheets, holes on tubular surfaces and inside dished ends, profiles in space with complex, ever-changing geometries.

A real benefit for customers

These are highly complex operations, especially on large, thick elements made of unusual materials. And all of this is done in a short time: a considerable advantage for our customers.

Growing and evolving together with them is one of our goals, and with Linear Cube we have achieved it.
