Samples first, signature later: Elletielle and the 40 kW PLUS BEVEL
Elletielle did not choose its machine from a brochure: it brought its own samples to the LAMIERA fair in Milan and judged on the cut part. The result is a 40 kW PLUS BEVEL that has taken the plasma's place.
Elletielle Srl is a subcontract cutting company based in San Vito al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone: two plants, around fifty employees and more than twenty years of sheet metal, tube and profile processing. Marco Frasson, the company's president, tells us why plasma stopped being enough and how you choose a 40 kW system when the goal is delivering a part that is already ready for welding.
Who Elletielle is: sheet metal, tube and two plants
The company was founded in 2003 in San Vito al Tagliamento, and installed its first system that same year: a 3500 W CO2 laser. From there, growth came by adding operations, with a declared direction: invest in technologies that let the company grow together with its customers.
Today the structure spans two plants. San Vito al Tagliamento handles sheet metal cutting, bending, machining and welding. Spilimbergo processes tubes, beams and profiles: cutting, drilling and notching, with three dedicated laser systems with bevel heads.
The picture: around 50 employees, complete industrial pre-processing and an increasingly firm focus on light-to-medium structural work. That context explains everything else: a company delivering parts for welding downstream cannot afford edges that need rework.
Oxyfuel, plasma, laser: the comparison in the field
Over the years Elletielle has used oxyfuel cutting, high-definition plasma and laser, covering a wide range of thicknesses. Plasma was an important technology, but its limits were four, and daily:
- high noise, earplugs and ear defenders for anyone working nearby
- fumes and dust that are hard to manage on the shop floor
- cutting quality not always up to the most demanding requests
- chamfers that were neither precise nor repeatable
The breaking point was not technical, it was commercial: the market stopped accepting compromises. The conditions under which plasma remains a valid choice are lined up on our plasma or laser page; here, they were gone.
Finishing afterwards, drilling by hand, correcting manually: that is no longer thinkable. The customer wants precision right away.
The turning point: a 40 kW in the plasma's place
The answer is a 40 kW fiber laser, intended to replace not one machine but a whole way of working. On their thicknesses the laser has completely replaced plasma: precise holes even in thick plate, no drill rework, and bevel cutting that prepares weld edges directly on the machine.
And there is the effect that never appears in specifications but is felt on the floor every day: compared to plasma, far less noise and far fewer fumes, meaning better working conditions for whoever stands next to the machine for eight hours. For a comparison on the same thicknesses, the case of Iron SpA, four plasma heads replaced by one 40 kW reaches the same conclusions from a different shop.
Why Cutlite Penta: the test on samples, at the fair
The most instructive part of this story is how Elletielle chose. Not from the brochure: the company brought real samples to LAMIERA, in Milan, and judged the machines on the result. The deciding factors: immediately verifiable cutting quality, proven reliability on medium-to-heavy thicknesses and ease of use.
To these they added the builder's solidity and the Made in Italy factor, which for Frasson is not a flag but a practical criterion: a builder close by is a builder that assists and supports you when things get difficult. The machine that arrived declares it on its bodywork, too.
PLUS BEVEL 40 kW: the machine at the center of the project
The machine chosen is a 40 kW PLUS BEVEL, a system designed for shops that genuinely work on thickness. The main characteristics:
- series with fiber laser sources up to 60 kW
- Evo 4 bevel head with ±50° rotation
- linear motors for precision dynamics
- Smart Manager Plus for control and automation
- a structure built for continuous high-power cutting
Bevel cutting is what changes the math: preparing weld edges directly on the machine removes an entire step between cutting and welding. We wrote separately about how powers have grown up to 60 kW; here, 40 kW is sized on the company's real work.
The people: the two Alessios
An investment at this level is not made without trust. Throughout the process Elletielle was followed by Alessio Marrucci and Alessio Venturini, from the initial evaluation to installation.
Not just sales: presence, technical discussion, support. For Frasson these elements count as much as the machine, and it is a judgement that returns, in the same words, in almost every interview in this series.
Beyond plasma: what has changed
The transition was no leap in the dark but a prepared evolution. Today Elletielle works with greater precision, lower costs, better working conditions on the floor, and delivers customers a product closer to the finished part. This is where the laser shows its real value: when it becomes an industrial tool, not an exercise in style.
If they own technology that is now obsolete, it is time to innovate.
That is the message Frasson sends to his own customers, adding that Elletielle is ready to offer its services. A company that after twenty years keeps renewing its machinery to stay ahead of demand: the best closing line is his.
Frequently asked questions
Who is Elletielle Srl?
A subcontract cutting company founded in 2003 in San Vito al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone, led by president Marco Frasson. It has around 50 employees and two plants: sheet metal cutting, bending, machining and welding in San Vito al Tagliamento; cutting, drilling and notching of tubes, beams and profiles in Spilimbergo, with three laser systems with bevel heads.
Why did Elletielle replace plasma with laser?
Because on its thicknesses plasma no longer delivered the required quality: high noise, fumes and dust on the shop floor, cuts needing finishing and chamfers that were not repeatable. With the 40 kW fiber laser, holes come out precise even in thick plate and bevel cutting prepares weld edges directly on the machine.
Which machine did Elletielle choose?
A 40 kW Cutlite Penta PLUS BEVEL: Evo 4 bevel head with ±50 degrees of rotation, linear motors, Smart Manager Plus control and a structure designed for continuous high-power cutting. The series goes up to 60 kW sources.
How did they evaluate the machines before buying?
By bringing real samples to the LAMIERA fair in Milan and judging on the cut part rather than the brochure. The decisive criteria were immediately verifiable cutting quality, reliability on medium-to-heavy thicknesses and the system's ease of use.
Want to judge on the part, not the brochure?
Do what Elletielle did: bring your samples. Cutting gets tested in our DEMO area in Prato, on your materials and your thicknesses, bevel included.
